Responsibilities Design the multiple collocation infrastructures in which our Linux-based application servers operate Design & build tools to automate critical but repetitive processes in daily production operations Design and develop tools to automate the monitoring & alerting of new systems and applications Design, develop and deploy a graphing and trending solution for systems and applications Assist with design of our Oracle DB environments Contribute to the development of automated application server deployments, updates, maintenance and administration processes Create and maintain Linux Shell and Perl scripts Monitor system activity, performance, and growth Tier 3 Support & troubleshooting of our 24x7x365 production environment Ability to participate in tier-3 on-call rotation Requirements Relevant education BA/BSc or equivalent desirable Professional experience At least 5 years proven in-depth experience in Linux systems administration Proven, in-depth UNIX scripting abilities – especially Perl and BASH Knowledge of Automation tools – Chef / Puppet a big advantage Excellent knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, NAT, Subnetting, etc. Experience with NetApp storage environment highly desirable Experience with Apache, Tomcat/JBOSS, Lucene/Solr desirable Knowledge of Oracle and/or MySQL a plus Knowledge of Nagios monitoring/alerting and graphing/trending apps a big plus Languages English at a very high level preferably mother tongue - spoken and written Required skills/characteristics Broad, systematic prospective and ability to characterize complex solutions Must have excellent troubleshooting skills and be able to support a high availability production environment Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both face-to-face and on the phone Fast learner, attention to detail, good team player Initiative and responsible Ability to work in a team Ability to work independently and under pressure Self-learning abilities Curiosity Detail oriented Be innovative and creative!
